The BBC-TW trophy was originally donated by Philip Douglas of the Turf Club and has been played for since 2006. Philip was one of the founders of the Winter League along with John Heywood of Boodle’s, John Hyatt of Brooks’s, Ross Gibbons of the Caledonian Club, and Johnny Martin-Smith of White’s.
The trophy was lost, and replaced, by the Caledonian Club in 2023/24 and the new trophy was engraved with the historic records.
The trophy is played for between Boodle’s, Brooks’s, the Caledonian Club, the Turf Club, and White’s as a Winter League. Each club plays the other four clubs, and each match is made up of two foursomes. There is 1 point for each match won, and a quarter-point on the bye in each match, so a maximum of 10 points. The highest points total has been 8.5 by the Caledonian Club in 2017, and the lowest points total which has won the League was 5.5 by Boodle’s in 2024.
