The Captain’s Cup was donated by J. Guthrie H. Fenton who was captain of the Royal Perth Golfing Society from 1991 to 1993. It is inscribed “For competition between the Royal Perth Golfing Society and the Caledonian Club Golfing Society”.
It is played for as a biennial match between the Caledonian Club Golfing Society (founded 1926) and the Royal Perth Golfing Society (founded 1824), alternating between the London area and Perthshire. The Royal Perth Golfing Society is the oldest Royal club in the world having received its Royal Charter from King William IV in 1833, one year before the R&A.
